Bodegas Magoni

Bodegas Magoni is the winery of winemaker Camillo Magoni's family, whose history with the vine, as the winery tells it, goes back to Morbegno in northern Italy. Every wine is made from grapes grown in the family's own Valle de Guadalupe vineyards, and an experimental plot holds more than 70 varieties from around the world. The family first sold its wines to the public in 2013. Tastings come as flights — whites, young wines, reds or a mixed line-up — each with a souvenir glass, and on Saturdays and Sundays there are also clone and experimental-variety tastings in Riedel glassware. The winery's site states that private tastings are limited to groups of 12. The tasting room is at km 83 of the Tecate–El Sauzal highway in Ensenada, Baja California. The tasting room is open Monday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and until 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Its wines for sale include Chardonnay Vermentino, Manaz, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Sangiovese Cabernet, Origen 43, Merlot Malbec and Nebbiolo De Baja.
