Bodegas F. Rubio

Bodegas F. Rubio is the winery of Francisco Rubio's family, who bought the land in 2002, planted the first vines in 2005 and released the first vintage in 2008: the Cabernet Sauvignon–Merlot blend that became Herencia Tinto. It makes about 2,600 cases a year from its own grapes only, feeds the vines with compost and seaweed, and uses barn owls for pest control. Tastings include Tres Herencias (Herencia Blanco, Rosado and Tinto), Tintos de la Casa with four red labels, and Mi Casa es Tu Casa, an hour-long tour of the cellar with the grower, with a tasting of 5 labels. The winery confirms it is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
