Vinisterra was founded in 2002 out of the friendship between Ensenada businessman Guillermo Rodríguez and winemaker Christoph Gaertner. It is a micro-producer with 15 staff making 50,000 bottles a year from 11 hectares split between the Valle de Santo Tomás and the Valle de Guadalupe, with minimal-intervention winemaking. Its winery is in Villa de Juárez.
