Vinícola Emevé

Emevé takes its name from the initials of Mario Villarreal, who planted his first vines in 2004, made his first wine in 2006 for family and friends and began selling in 2008. It now has 18 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Tempranillo, Malbec and Chardonnay, more than 180 Hungarian, French and American oak barrels, and makes about 60,000 bottles a year; its flagship, Los Nietos, is a Bordeaux-style blend that the house says has won gold six years running. The tasting room, on plot 67 of the El Porvenir ejido, pours young-wine, white-wine and single-varietal tastings and a "Premium" tasting, and sells cheeses and snacks; it is open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
